blogshares

I recently enrolled this blog & raw umber in blogshares, a fantasy stock market of blogs. The worth is auto-calculated somehow, based on incoming links, outgoing links, frequency of posts, etc. I get some virtual money to buy shares.

The cool part is, when they take something countable like links & visits, and state it in dollars -- suddenly it comes into much sharper focus.

Like, for example, here are the value of outgoing links right now:
rachel_rutherford - $217
Scott Maddock's blog - $202
Kipley's SmallFish blog - $550
eeksy peeksy, a beautiful Polish blog I link to -- $865
Click here to see this blog's info. Click here to see Raw Umber's.

It was a tough call whether to invest in my own beloved Raw Umber -- or in Kipley's site, whose value blows mine to smithereens. Except Kipley's wasn't listed. So I got his SmallFish blog listed, bought some, and am working on getting ActorsLife.com listed so I can buy some more.

I was delighted to learn that one faithful reader holds almost all the shares in my blog; I hold the rest. Now, when days would go by without me posting, I have the guilty feeling that I Personally Am Depressing Ric's Stock And Letting Down The Shareholders.

This is like when I had my own game company. Which consisted at the time of, well, me. "The entire company is now changing the paper in the paper tray," I would think. "The entire company is now having a tea break."
